“When Pumpkins Blossomed” is a novel about a young boxer on his path of maturing in the suburban area of Belgrade right after The World War II in the turbulent time of The Informbureau and the emergance of the socialist society. Having been consumed by the swirling urge for revenge due to the assault on his sister, he crossed the line after which there was no coming back. What he was about to do would make him leave behind his career and even his country. He is the narrator of the story that he tells us about his memories on his rough period of youth, living in the suburban area of Belgrade, precisely in Dusanovac, where “bad boys” used to live.
