“School for ducklings” is a puppet play that incorporates creative and imaginative theatrical techniques using objects. Here, objects intended for everyday use become puppets and tell stories.
J.J. Zmaj is one of the most prominent authors for children writing in Serbian language. The lines he wrote became fruitful ground for theatrical research. Zmaj brings us back to play. Is there room for play in school? How and to what extent does school change us? Is school a happy place? The team of this particular play used Zmaj’s body of work as a starting point for a play that deals with school and our experience within school. The first important lessons in life are learned through playing, yet they tend to be easily forgotten. Theatre is there to remind us how significant playing is even when we start school.
