Biljana Radenkovic

Born on September 10, 1973. She earned a degree in sociology from the Faculty of Philosophy in Niš, graduating in the subject of Sociology of Art – Theatre. She also graduated from the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts “Krastyo Sarafov” (NATFIZ) in Sofia, specializing in Acting and Puppetry, under Professor Bojana Lungova.

She was an actress at the Niš Academic Theatre and “Theatre 21st Century” until 1990. That year, she joined “Classic Theatre,” where her professional career began. She gained professional experience working with renowned directors and actors. She became a member of the Niš Puppet Theatre ensemble in 2001, where she still works today, and in 2004, she also took on the role of Artistic Director at the Niš Academic Theatre.

She has received the following awards:

  • Award for Acting Mastery at the Ninth International Puppetry Festival in Podgorica, 2022.
  • Award for Acting Achievement at the Seventeenth International Festival of Children’s Theatre in Banja Luka, 2018.
  • Award for Best Acting Achievement at the Twelfth Kotor Festival for Children, 2004.
  • Award for Best Female Role at the Thirty-Sixth Meeting of Professional Puppet Theatres of Serbia, 2003.
  • Numerous collective awards.

She appeared in the film for the National Bulgarian Television “Shadows in the Night” in 2003.

She is also recognized as a director, winning the award for Best Direction at the Festival of Academic Theatres in Novi Sad “Sonja Marinković” in 2007. As a director, she has staged six plays, two in collaboration and four as a solo director.
