This adaptation of Pinocchio is inspired by Carlo Collodi’s classic children’s novel The Adventures of Pinocchio. The play opens by introducing the world of its main characters – Father Geppetto and the wooden puppet Pinocchio. Its central focus lies in the transformation of lifeless matter into spirit (How does a wooden puppet grow and become a real child?).

This situation represents the central conflict of the play: the clash between the spiritual values that every human being should possess and the egoistic impulses of material existence. From this point, a series of twists unfolds through the main plot, leading the story toward its climax.

Pinocchio becomes the object of conflict between Father Geppetto and Mozzarello on one side, and Liana, Macchorelli, and Signor Baldini on the other. The opposing relationships among these characters form the core dramatic tension.

The theme of growing up gives rise to the play’s central idea: a person truly matures only when responsibility awakens compassion for others.

The play’s genre can be described as a fantasy adventure for children. Its world includes both fantastical figures (Pinocchio, Mozzarello, Lianina, and Macchorelli) and real people (Father Geppetto and Signor Baldini). The adventurous spirit of the piece is reflected in vivid situations, dynamic dialogue, and an emphasis on action rather than psychological introspection.
