Dear friends, colleagues, associates, and theatre enthusiasts of all ages,
Welcome to The Smile of Niš, our First International Theatre Festival for Children and Youth at the Puppet Theatre Niš!
This festival is born out of a great desire – the desire to bring together artists from around the world so that we may jointly highlight the power of theatre to inspire and provoke reflection on the important moments of growing up. We believe that theatre possesses even more magical powers: to bring people together, to connect generations, to remind both children and adults that the world is more beautiful when we play and create together, and to inspire a smile.
Children and young people are our most precious audience, but also our most sincere teachers – those who remind us why we create. During the festival days, we will have the opportunity to see performances created especially for them, performances that speak of courage, friendship, love, and dreams. Each one carries a hidden message: art can make the world more beautiful if we give it the opportunity and strength to do so.
I would like to thank everyone who helped make this vision a reality. I hope that the festival will become a tradition – a memorable event that we will celebrate year after year.
