Vlasta Cenić
Embrace’em, My Poems
A poetic–theatrical story about the wordsmiths of Serbian children’s literature
Published by the publishing house Pčelica, here we have a unique presentation of the book by the same name, which has recently received two prestigious awards: Milovan Danojlić and Srebrno Gašino pero, and was declared the best book at the Book Fair in Banja Luka.
This collection of poems for children consists of 31 poems about Serbian poets for children, from poets like Luka Milovanov Georgijević, who is considered the first writer for children, through Uncle Jova Zmaj (čika Jova Zmaj) and all the way to Ljubivoje Ršumović.
Vlasta N. Cenić is a poet from southern Serbia and a passionate fan of dialect and acting. And this time, he will prove that he is also a wizard of words.
Violeta Jović
All–witty and Dream–knitty
Unhappy, joyful, ugly and fair,
However bizarre, fairies are there.
Our mothers read to us of their delight,
And then they soared into our sight.
Writers are wizards of words. And where there are wizards, magic is created. Where there is magic, there are inevitably a few fairies. From her poems The Silly Fairy to All–witty and Dream–knitty, Violeta Jović has preserved the magic of beautiful words and countless other intriguing ideas, inspiring the infinite imagination of children who love books.
Every child has its wings,
Everyone can fly, it seems,
By magic, like a fairy’s play,
They only need to remember the way,
and peek beneath the cloak’s sides,
where vivid imagination resides.
